The first principle of sustainability is to value products which are well designed and well made– which last longer and we all want to keep - thus ensuring their own longevity.
We try to discourage a short-term, throw away approach and consider value over lifetime. We are practical and encourage re-use of existing furniture where possible. We focus on the use of sustainable and local manufacturers and materials, energy efficient solutions, and low-impact manufacturing techniques. We work with suppliers who prioritise sustainability within their manufacturing processes, materials used and corporate responsibility. Our aim is not only to minimise the negative impact but to maximise the positive impact on people and planet.
We’re always improving our knowledge and understanding in this rapidly developing area, keeping abreast of new technology, manufacturing techniques and materials.
We are experienced with BREEAM, SKA and the WELL Standard should these be required. Eve has undergone training with the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership and stays updated with ongoing training and via sustainability networking groups.
We are committed to preventing and minimizing our environmental impact and have clear goals to ensure we stay on track. Our aim is not only to minimize our negative impact but to maximize our positive impact on people and planet. Sustainability is embedded in company philosophy and we have sustainability champions within our business. Continuous assessment and modification of practice is central to the way we work. We are working towards ISO 14001 which includes a detailed Environmental Management System with independent auditing on an annual basis. Our staff undertake regular training such as the ‘Environmental Awareness for Employees module’ as part our H&S initiative with Citation Ltd. and courses through edx.org and CISL (Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership)
